At Perlamuse, we have always strived to be as sustainable, ethical, and environmentally conscious as possible while creating high-quality and unique Perlamuse jewelry.
You’ve probably heard the words: sustainable, ethical, and eco-friendly from many brands. But what do these really mean, and what are businesses truly doing to stay honest with these commitments?
At Perlamuse, we strongly believe in transparency when it comes to sharing how we stay true to our promise of creating sustainable and ethical jewelry. We hope that by providing you with these insights, you’ll be able to explore and understand how we are making an effort. We are committed to continually improving in the future.
Product Materials
Perlamuse uses gold-vermeil sourced from the USA, India, and China, as these regions have the most experience and knowledge in sustainably producing gold. We use materials that are reusable and long-lasting, including gold, silver, and CZ stones (synthetic diamonds). This is in contrast to cheap fashion jewelry that can be harmful to the skin and has a short lifespan.
We ensure that no material is wasted and that it can be recycled during other production processes. This recycling method minimizes waste by optimizing the use of materials.
Design
Perlamuse aims to create everyday jewelry with fashion-forward yet timeless designs that are suitable for various occasions and events. We reject fast fashion and "instant" designs with a short lifespan.
Packaging
We simplify packaging and use environmentally friendly materials. We take pride in using eco-friendly packaging for all our shipments. To package your jewelry, Perlamuse uses a combination of canvas bags, paper boxes, biodegradable protective wrap, and compostable pouches.
We avoid excessive packaging and encourage everyone to reuse these materials.
Ethical Manufacturing Commitment
Our commitment to ethical manufacturing means that our products are produced in small quantities. As a result, our products often stay available longer than the average.
Shipping
Perlamuse uses compact packaging, which maximizes space in shipping containers and allows for more products to be transported, thereby reducing environmental emissions. We strive to recycle all received packaging and reuse as much as possible.
Production
Perlamuse collaborates with Fair Trade Jewelry certified manufacturers. This certification supports sustainable development by providing better trading conditions and ensuring the rights of disadvantaged producers and workers.
Our founder, Linh Vu, spent several months searching for ethical manufacturers with whom we could confidently partner. Currently, Perlamuse's production facilities are located in the USA, Vietnam, and China.
